Elton has posted a photo of himself with actress Barbara Windsor, who died yesterday after a battle with Alzheimer’s.
The following words accompanied the image:
”The world has lost the biggest ray of light. And heaven has the sweetest and funniest angel.”
Barbara and her husband, Scott Mitchell, tried to raise awareness of the disease, as well as more funding, after her diagnosis. This was noted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson who said the EastEnders performer was ”so much more than a great pub landlady and Carry On star.”
He added that she ”campaigned for the lonely and the vulnerable–and cheered the world up with her own British brand of harmess sauciness and innocent scandal.”
Jonathan Ross tweeted that the 83-year-old was ”everything you might have hoped for. So warm, so funny, so kind.”
John Barrowman said in a video on Twitter than what the dimunitive actress lacked in height, she made up for in spirit.
And Scott Mitchell said his wife would be remembered ”for the love, fun, friendship and brightness she brought to all our lives.”
