Elton recently explained to Andrew Marr why he paid for a classical pipe organ to be installed at the Royal Academy of Music.

Well before becoming a famous rock-and-roller, Elton trained on Saturday mornings at the Academy as a classical organist, ”learning chord structure and harmony.” He also credits the school with helping him become ambitious.

Now with the release of The Diving Board, Elton finds that writing with Bernie Taupin still feels fresh. He says he’s relieved that at 66, he no longer finds it necessary to get onto the charts.

As for his love life, the singer says he and David Furnish have been together just about 20 years, and thinks ”dominos are falling,” meaning that people are growing more tolerant of different lifestyles.
