Elton is the fifth highest-paid contemporary live musician, according to a newsurvey published in July. The July 10

edition of Performance Magazine in the USA will show Elton netted $19.4 million in the first six months of 1998, behind New Age rocker Yanni on $37 million, followed by George Strait, $32.9 million; the Rolling Stones, $28.1 million, and Eric Clapton on $26.5million.

Also high up was Billy Joel, although his place may be challenged other touring musicians, as well as non-rock music tours, like wrestling and the show Riverdance.
