On Thursday, February 9 at 7 a.m. Eastern time, A&E will present a Dionne Warwick biography, featuring guests like Elton, Isaac Hayes and Burt Bacharach.

According to, Dionne, who was born into a gospel family, emerged as a solo artist in 1961 when Burt heard her sing, and began writing songs for her with his partner, Hal David. She became a success with hits like Walk On By and That’s What Friends Are For, although her involvement with the Psychic Friends Network was criticised.

The hour-long programme also discusses the singer’s causes–speaking out against gangster rap and advocating AIDS education.
