Elton has begun legal proceedings against officials of his former management company.

Although ex-manager John Reid is not named in a High Court writ issued January 11, 1999, in London, former John Reid Enterprises managing director Andrew Haydon, as well as Elton’s dismissed accountants, London firm Price Waterhouse Coopers, are named.

It is understood Elton is trying to recover the alleged loss of £20 million from his estimated £150 million business empire. We were unable to ascertain from where the money is alleged to have been taken, whether from Elton’s accounts, JRE, or the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Sir Elton’s lawyers issued the writ at the Chancery Division of the High Court, alleging breach of trust, breach of contract and negligence.

Elton told journalists: “I am a musician, not a businessman or

accountant. I am deeply disappointed that the people I have relied on in the past have let me down so badly.”

Elton was seen by an intrepid George Matlock arriving back from the People’s Choice Award ceremony in Los Angeles to London’s Heathrow Airport at 230pm on Sunday, January 10, 1999.

“He looked shaken and worn out. This was not a time to approach him and wish him a Happy New Year,” said George.

Elton was spotted wearing a baseball cap, sporting raincoat and sneakers, in matching attire to his long-time PA Bob Halley, and two other security staff passengers.
