On the 12th of June, Bonhams in London will be selling entertainment memorabilia.
The goods include some relating to Elton.
Lot 94, for instance, is from 1970–the rare Warlock Sampler demo album, with tracks like You Get Brighter; Stormbringer; Way To Blue; and Time Has Told Me. This was produced by Joe Boyd and offers songs published by his Warlock Music company.
The next lot consists of a pair of promotional jackets, and that’s followed by an early 70s black velvet jacket with vertical metallic threads of blue, green, yellow and pink and labelled Granny Takes A Trip The World’s End London New York.
It is believed that this item was picked up from the Granny Takes A Trip store on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles and delivered to Elton whilst on the road in support of his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album release.
The last EJ lot consists of the original artwork for the piano player’s cover of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds from his Greatest Hits Volume II.
The hand-painted gouache scene by artist George Rowbottom depicts a girl (Lucy) with a boat on a river, tangerine trees, yellow flowers, rocking horses, clouds, and a train in a station.
