Pop meister Elton John is taking legal action against a man John claims electronically sneaked into his computer and obtained details of his credit card and bank spending — which were then published in the press.

John’s management company John Reid Entertainment is suing Benjamin Pell, 34, the Mirror newspaper and Max Clifford, a public relations consultant who allegedly brokered a deal between Pell and the Mirror, according to media reports.

In its Jan. 26 edition the Mirror reported how the singer spent $870,000 in one day on an “amazing shopping spree.”

Pell, who lives in north London, has told journalists he had masses of private documents relating to Elton John and other celebrities.
