Ramon Van Meer, the founder and organiser of Vegas Loves Brazil, says this year he wanted to make the festival bigger and better than its previous edition.

The latest event was held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and featured an array of Brazilian food and music. There were also carnival rides.

Last year’s fest drew 6,000 people to the Clark County Amphitheater.

The events originally started out as small invites among Van Meer’s Facebook friends where the groups would meet up at various local parks to celebrate and indulge in the Brazilian culture. It wasn’t until late in 2012 when Van Meer and the festival’s co-founder, Cliff Martin, began the rigorous planning stage to bring the unique Brazilian culture to the masses.”

Before the event, held on April 5th and 6th, Van Meer promised it would be superior, thanks to an additional day. “Last year was great but it felt too short so we added another day to accommodate everyone who wants to go,” he said.

Elton took advantage of the extra day. On Sunday, he and his son, Zachary, took a ride on the ferris wheel. Photos from their outing were printed in the April 10, 2014 edition of the Daily Mail.
