David Furnish was recently in Canada, finishing up It's a Boy Girl Thing. So he admitted to the Daily Mirror that he was surprised by the fuss about the Windsor Guildhall ceremony on December 21.
The 43-year-old, who is hoping he and Elton can have a New Year's honeymoon, spoke to the paper at the launch of his friend, Liz Hurley's Sky One TV show, Project Catwalk, in London's San Lorenzo restaurant.
He explained that Guildhall was selected because it happens to be the local registry office: It had nothing to do with the fact that Prince Charles and Camilla married there.
David also said they decided to get hitched as soon as legislation came through because it's vital ''to stake a stand'' and to encourage others to do so.
