Director Seeks Info on EJ Quote Although Singer Won't Be His Subject

Thursday 23 April 2009 @ 15:18 - GMT

A new company is working on a movie about the early birth of rock'n'roll and the rise of the teenager. And they are seeking assistance from EJW readers.

David Barrett of Carpenters' Mess Media says he was informed about a quote attributed to Elton.

''It would be the perfect opening quote to the film prior to a dissolve to the film itself.'' He explains: ''It goes something like this.

''In reply to a question about how he could justify the huge amount of money he makes - 'I'm getting paid for all the guys who gave up and went back to the building sites.' The period we are looking at is between 1955 and 1965 and centres its focus around those nearly men that returned to the 'building sites.' This, as you can imagine, excludes Elton from the film. It's simply his quote, if indeed it is one, that resonates so well with the film.

We are hoping it will initially be for cinematic release albeit a limited one with the hope that it will be picked up at festivals we hope to attend by broadcasters in the long run.

The title is The Day The Music Died, and our hope is to premiere it at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival
.''
