Pearl and the Puppets vocalist Katie Sutherland was so excited about opening for Elton, she almost crashed her car on the way to her Scots gig.
The 21-year-old, who was plucked from obscurity to do the gig at Glasgow's SECC on Wednesday night, told the Daily Record: "I was driving to the SECC to drop off some gear and turned into the right-hand lane instead of the left-hand side.
"Traffic was coming full speed towards me.
"I could have got into a lot of trouble. Luckily I was able to stop, do a three-point turn and went the opposite way.
"I suppose I was just thinking about the gig."
Katie's support slot proved to be a success and after the show, Elton even asked for a private audience with her and two of the other Scots bands on his management label, the Dykeenies and Healthy Minds Collapse.
Katie said: "It was unreal. As soon as I got off stage, I went to Elton's dressing room. I had 15 minutes to catch up with him."
Elton watched Katie's performance from a monitor in his dressing room, and he was quick to congratulate her.
"Elton could watch the show from his dressing room," said Katie. "I dedicated my song called Kisses to him. He gave me a kiss as a thank you."
The young woman also teased the rocker about his ticket prices after explaining one of her relatives bought a prized brief to see him in 1976.
She said: "I told him my uncle had come with a ticket from a 1976 show when the price was just £2.
"I asked if he could have his money back and we joked about inflation."
