Elton has been added to the line-up at the 52nd Grammy Awards, which will also feature

a tribute to Les Paul, and performances by the likes of Eminem, Slash and Roberta Flack.

The event will be held on Sunday, January 31, at the Staples Center in L.A. and runs on CBS from 8-11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

The show also will be supported on radio via Westwood One worldwide, and covered online at the Grammy and CBS Web sites as well as on YouTube.

Two days prior to this,

Kenny Aronoff will perform in the house band as part of the 2010 MusiCares Person of the Year homage to Neil Young.

The former drummer for Elton, who did an interview with this Web site last year, is to play in a rhythm section performing with the Rocket Man, John Mellencamp, James Taylor, Sheryl Crow, Leon Russell, T Bone Burnett, Josh Groban and others.

The MusiCares Person of the Year tribute is one of the most prestigious events held during Grammy Week. The evening will begin with a special reception and silent auction, followed by a gala dinner sponsored by MasterCard, an award presentation and a star-studded concert.

Proceeds from the 20th annual Grammy Week event will provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that music people have a place to turn to in times of financial, medical and personal need.
