On Wednesday night, Elton and Billy Joel played the first of two makeup dates at KeyArena in Seattle.

Elton had on a black tailcoat and a pink silk scarf that read "Stardust Kiss"; the other pianist was more subdued in a black jacket, slacks and T-shirt.

Billy took the stage to Yankee Doodle Dandy, Elton to God Save the Queen, observed the Times.

They began with Elton's Your Song and Billy's Just the Way You Are, captivating 17,000 fans.

One of the more memorable numbers was I'm Still Standing, during which Elton ''went disco-esque,'' to quote the reviewer.

Another was Billy's lively rendition of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze.

The two friends opted to close with a pair of signature songs, Candle in The Wind and Piano Man.
