Sir Elton John's pop music empire will dry up in eight weeks unless the star curbs his extravagant spending habits and replenishes his bank account immediately, a leaked letter from his accountant reveals.
The letter, published in yesterday's London Mirror, claims John, 50, regularly spends $85,000-plus on Versace outfits and Theo Fennell jewels, and $17,000 a month on flowers from Bloomingdale's in New York.
It reported that John went through $850,000 on a single, one-day spending spree.
"For Elton," a source told The Mirror, "when the going gets tough, the tough go shopping," adding that he'd rather not go to the stores solo.
