Disney musical production The Lion King, was among the winners at Broadway's Tony Awards ceremony at the nostalgic Radio City Music Hall in New York June 7, 1998.
The Lion King, which includes new Elton-Tim Rice songs, scooped five awards, including the best musical comedy category, as well as best choreography, lighting, sets and costumes.
The Tonys are Broadway's equivalent of cinema's Academy Awards or "Oscars".
