Dan Dare, the classic children's character is rocketing back to TV after Channel 5 signed up his new £15 million series. The space adventurer will be seen on screens next month after the station beat off competition from other broadcasters to land the series. Computer-generated series Dan Dare: Pilot Of The Future will become a Saturday morning fixture from July 6.
The new show will feature such actors as Robbie Coltrane, Tim Curry and Charles Dance as guest villains.
Sir Elton John has written and sings the theme song for the show which originally began life as a strip in the Eagle comic half a century ago.
