Elton wore a gold medallion around his neck when he appared with the band in Bakersfield on January 18, 2003. Elton last appeared at the venue in 1999 as a solo act.
Elton performed a number of rarely heard songs, such as Dixie Lily in a 3-hour show.
After playing Pinball Wizard Elton mentioned that every song he was playing that evening other than Pinball Wizard was written by Bernie Taupin. Bernie was backstage and later appeared to roars from the audience.
