Moulin Rouge actor Ewan McGregor has been given the stamp of approval by Elton John, whose hit Your Song he sings in the film, reported the Scottish Daily Record on June 6, 2001.
Director Baz Luhrmann said: "Elton had to approve the song for Ewan. He said, 'Oh, my God, he's a real singer!'"
The film is expected to screen in the UK in September 2001.
