Elton John and band were in Detroit on October 13th at the Joe Louis Arena motoring through a conveyer belt of metal-bashing hits! Ok, so Ed. likes cars!Among the highlights of this last gig before returning to the Face to Face act with Billy Joel - Elton played US anthem Star Spangled Banner, and then introduced Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters by saying he is British, but feels like an Honorary yank, and this song is for everyone in New York. He then exclaimed:: "Let's get those bastards!", a reference perceived to be aimed at the Afghan Taliban and terror group Al-Queda, which brought a standing ovation from the previously timid crowd. Unusual for a US crowd to be timid!
