A member of chart-topping toy band Blue has been charged with drink-driving, reported Daily Mail on August 12, 2003.
Singer Lee Ryan was pulled over by police in his £40,000 blue convertible Porsche Boxster close to Tower Bridge, East London, at 4.10am (0310 GMT) on August 11, 2003.
The 20-year-old was alleged to have failed a breath test and been almost twice over the legal limit.
He was taken to a nearby police station and was said to have spent several hours sobering up in a cell before being charged and released on police bail.
It is believed police may have stopped Ryan because they thought he was too young to drive. He only recently passed his driving test. If found guilty of the offence, the pop singer faces at least a 12- month ban and a fine.
The band have had three number one hits, including Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word with Elton.
This is not the singer's first incident on the road. In April he ploughed into the back of another car and mangled his bonnet and bumper while on a lesson in North London.
Ryan, of Blackheath, South-East London, is due to appear before Tower Bridge magistrates on August 22, 2003.
