''Amazing Music Auction'' Includes ''Louder Than Concorde'' Mementoes

Written by Chief Editor.

A white piano bench signed by Elton and Bernie Taupin, guitars from Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton and Aerosmith, and even strands of hair from Kurt Cobain are some of the highlights of an online auction ending today.

A portion of the proceeds from Iconic Auctions' Amazing Music Auction will benefit Crew Nation, a relief fund for live music touring and venue crews who are facing hardship because of the Covid pandemic.

According to the catalog's description, the aforementioned piano bench was used during the Louder Than Concorde tour in 1976. The headliner broke the bench during his stage antics and gave it to a front row fan who was in a full body cast, after the Charlotte Coliseum show.

Bernie wrote, ''To Patrick, Best Wishes and Much Love, Bernie Taupin.'' His songwriting partner wrote: ''To Patrick, with Love, Elton John.'' The bench, weighing nearly 30 pounds, is accompanied by a detailed letter of provenance, picture of the Rocket Man on stage with the bench (as depicted here), the original ticket stub, and Louder Than Concorde (But Not Quite as Pretty) programme.

Another lot consists of a Louder Than Concorde tee shirt, once owned and worn by Elton's friend, Freddie Mercury.
