AIR Studios currently sits in ruin on the Caribbean island of Montserrat after Hurricane Hugo hit in 1989, followed by a series of volcanic eruptions years later. But throughout the eighties, names like Elton, Dire Straits, the Police, and Black Sabbath traveled there to record.
The forthcoming documentary Under the Volcano traces the history of AIR Studios, and is full of archival footage and new interviews with a wide range of music industry insiders. They include Giles Martin, Jimmy Buffett, Davey Johnstone, Nigel Olsson, and Ray Cooper.
