Actress Talks About ''Tiny Dancer'' Revamp

Written by Chief Editor.

Last month, Courteney Cox recruited an all-star lineup for an Instagram video. It was a clip of the actress jamming with Elton, Ed Sheeran and Brandi Carlile, and a tribute to Lisa Kudrow.

They were singing Tiny Dancer, but switched the words to ''Tony Danza,'' referencing Lisa's character Phoebe's line about the song on an episode of Friends. That's where Phoebe says she thinks the most romantic song is ''the one that Elton John wrote for that guy on Who's the Boss? Hold me closer, young Tony Danza.''

Cox, who called this ''one of the greatest moments of my life,'' told Entertainment Weekly how it all came together.

She's been friends with Ed Sheeran for about 9 years, and both he and Brandi were staying at Courteney's house. They were celebrating Brandi's 40th birthday.

''Ed was staying here and he said, 'Do you mind if I have Elton John over for dinner?' '' the actress recalled. ''I was like, 'What? Of course, I don't mind.' ''

Once Elton accepted the invitation, it was actually Ed's idea to perform and film a version of the Friends take on the song. ''He said, 'Maybe it'd be really funny if we do a thing, the Lisa Kudrow 'hold me closer,' '' Cox said.

So she asked her pal, Joel Taylor, to teach her how to play Tiny Dancer--''like 20 minutes before Elton came over.

''After dinner, Elton was like, 'Of course I'll do it,' and then I was playing with Ed, Brandi, and Elton. And Elton had his arm around me, and I was like, I love this moment, but I'm panicking.''

The 57-year-old added: ''I thought, 'I can't do this, I'm too nervous. I'll miss every note.' And so, I just started laughing. And he was like, 'What are you doing, why are you stopping?' And I'm like, 'Dude, I only know that part of the song.' It was amazing.''
