Netflix Cancels Furnish/Markle Production

Written by Chief Editor.

As EJW readers are likely aware, the Duchess of Sussex was set to executive produce a series alongside David Furnish, Sir Elton's husband. This was a partnership with Netflix.

However, Pearl has been canceled as Netflix makes cuts, Deadline recently reported. Their stock has gone down after a drop in subscribers. So the streaming service has opted not to continue with several projects in development--Pearl among them.
Pearl was announced last summer as one of the first undertakings from Archewell Productions, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's media company. Furnish said back then that he was delighted to announce the animated series, which was to focus on a 12-year-old girl inspired by influential women from history.
''Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex and I are deeply passionate about bringing the inspirational and positive stories of extraordinary women from around the world to a global audience of all ages.''
Archewell is still involved with other projects.
