Elton and Nigel's Sutherland Connections

Written by Chief Editor.

Elton and his bandmates are appearing in Sunderland on Sunday, the 19th of June.

Last year, as reported by EJW, the Chronicle looked back at the music-maker's long-standing connection to the region. The entertainer started out playing for ''the chicken-in-a-basket cabaret crowd'' in the late 1960s at Newcastle's La Dolce Vita nightclub. In 2000, though, Elton had a gig at Raby Castle in County Durham.

There's currently an interview with Nigel Olsson about the show online. The drummer cut his musical teeth, during the sixties, in Sutherland.
