The Finnish Public Treasury has issued coronavirus event guarantees totaling nearly 73 million euros. Guarantees have been issued for more than 150 events, including Elton's Helsinki Farewell Yellow Brick Road concerts in September.
A guarantee is a commitment to an organiser to cover reasonable costs if an activity is scrapped or limited due to official pandemic restrictions.
In total, around 100 guarantees and nearly 50 million euros have been issued for music festivals, concerts and exhibitions. Eleven million euros have been set aside for trade fairs and professional gatherings. Six million went to sporting events, with less for summer theatre, dancing and other cultural events.
Just 12 percent of event warranty claims were dismissed. The government has put aside 250 million euros for guarantees.
