Each song seeks submissions for a specific genre of filmmaking: Rocket Man will have animation; Tiny Dancer will be live-action; and Bennie and the Jets will feature choreography.Entries for Elton John: The Cut open Jan. 9. The contest ends on Jan. 23. Those entering must be at least 16.
Elton, Bernie, a panel of YouTube creators and industry players will pick three winners, and the music videos will premiere next summer. Winners will also receive $10,000 from YouTube. Pulse Films will assist with production.
“We’re excited to partner with YouTube to bring together generations of artists and music lovers around a shared passion for storytelling,” Elton said. “YouTube is a rich tapestry of creativity, and I can’t wait to see how the breadth of talent from the dance, live-action and animation communities apply their vision to these cherished songs.”
