Blake Gopnik‘s new tome, Warhol–A Life as Art, has garnered positive reviews since being published in April. Fab Five Freddie calls it ”incisive” and ”richly detailed,” while Elton says the biography makes him regret not getting to know the artist better.

”It really reveals the man – and the genius – under that silver wig,” he remarks.”
Another book generating a lot of buzz came out last week.
While The Decade That Rocked focuses on the eighties, there are a couple of 1990 shots, taken of Elton. These were done during the Blaze of Glory sessions for Jon Bon Jovi’s debut solo album. Another participant, Little Richard, was also photographed by Mark ”Weissguy” Weiss.
Sebastian Bach says he has read pretty much every rock and roll biography worth reading, and points out that you don’t always know what to expect with a new book.
”Well, let me tell you Mark Weiss has raised the bar for rock ‘ n’ roll books with ‘The Decade That Rocked.’ Mark has always been at the top of his field, and the level of detail and quality put into this book is the ultimate testament to his rock ‘n’ roll photographic legacy.”
Steven Adler, formerly of Guns ‘N Roses, says music fans should definitely check it out. He thanked Mark for sending him a copy of the book with ”never seen pictures of most of my favourite bands.”
The Decade That Rocked, with a foreword written by Rob Halford, also contains photos of Mick Jagger, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen, among many others.
