The Lion King musical will premiere in New Zealand for the first time in June 2021, after being on hiatus for over a year due to Covid. The internationally-toured live version of Disney‘s movie, featuring songs by Elton and Tim Rice, will open at Auckland’s Spark Arena on the 24th of June.

Five Kiwi performers will be chosen to join the diverse cast in an open audition, to be held in the coming months.

While it’s being touted as a ”strictly limited season,” there has been no word yet on how many shows the cast will perform while in the country.
