An English writer, singer and comedian has died at the age of 75.

Neil Innes was best known for his time with the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band (whose drummer ”Legs” Larry Smith once toured with Elton); Beatles parody band The Rutles and working with Monty Python.

Innes toured the UK in 2006 and produced a new Bonzo CD as part of the Bonzo Dog Band‘s 40th Anniversary tour

A spokesman for his family said he had not had an illness, and had passed away unexpectedly last night.

He and Nick Turner were most recently working on a documentary called Sound Techniques: The Parts You Don’t Hear.
