A car once owned by the Rocket Man is being sold at auction for an estimated £17,000.

According to the Echo, the 2005 Maserati Quattroporte V is being sold at auction with a guide price between £15,000 and £17,000 – and comes with the music-maker’s name on the V5 certificate.

Elton ordered the Italian super car new but rarely used the exotic motor before selling it in 2010. The car has just 28,000 miles on the clock and comes with headphones, a DVD player and, of course, a six CD auto changer to listed to the singer’s greatest hits.

It even comes with national press cuttings when Elton originally sold the car.

The Maserati will go under the hammer on March 19 at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre in Leamington Spa during the Classic Car Auctions (CCA) event.

CCA classic car specialist, Arwel Richards, says: “This is a wonderfully rare opportunity to buy an example of Italian exotica that goes like a rocket man. There’s something about the way this car looks at night, and the vendor should still be standing as he waves goodbye along the yellow brick road to the auction rostrum!”
