NPR.org has announced that for the first time in more than a decade fans can see Elton performing in a music video.
He is seen on and off throughout the short film singing A Good Heart, from his Wonderful Crazy Night album.
Elton says, “At this time in all our lives, when the world is changing so rapidly and we’re all trying to make sense of everything, I think it’s important to remember that it’s not politicians, it’s not money and it’s not fame which make the world go round — it’s love. It’s something that is so easy to forget. I wanted to reflect that in this song and video.”
The songwriter wears a big heart shaped pin in the video; it’s a piece in a line of accessories that he developed with Lady Gaga for their Love Bravery line, formed in partnership with Macy’s.
25% of each purchase supports the charities championed by the singers, the Born This Way Foundation and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The Born This Way Foundation, led by Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta, was launched in 2012 to support the wellness of young people and empower them “to create a kinder and braver world.” Born This Way works with more than 50 nonprofit organisations.
The message behind the collection, available through August 30th, is to “inspire compassion and combat prejudice,” according to Elton and Gaga.
