The Ryan White Foundation is closing due to lack of donations.
The Foundation was founded by Jeanne White-Ginder in 1990, after the death of her son Ryan White who contracted HIV through tainted blood-clotting products. Elton John befriended the 18 year old boy and also played at his funeral in August 1990.
Elton has since said that White’s plight not only made Elton take an active interest in combating AIDS, it also inspired him to detox from drug and alcohol abuse in the early 1990s.
