A burial ground might not be the most obvious place to stage a fashion show, but Alessandro Michele had no trouble drawing A-listers to his Gucci Cruise Collection in the southern French city of Arles on the 30th of May.

Elton, David Furnish, Salma Hayek and Valeria Golino were among the guests gathering after dark among the tombstones in the ancient Roman necropolis of Alyscamps.
The former performed at the after-party. Among the numbers he sang were Your Song, I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues, and Rocket Man, which he dedicated to Michele and his boyfriend Vanni, “who I love very much.”
Introducing the music-maker, Michele said: “Just a few words to introduce one of my best friends now, and one of the sweetest persons on earth. A really, really huge and unbelievable artist.”
