Elton will not play at Donald Trump’s January 20 inauguration in Washington, D.C., says Entertainment Weekly, despite a previous report from a Trump aide.

“Elton will not be performing at Trump’s inauguration,” a rep for the artist stated.

The rumour was set in motion on Tuesday when Anthony Scaramucci, vice chair of the presidential inaugural committee, told the BBC that the Grammy winner would be performing a concert, and that his participation represented Trump’s dedication to LGBT rights.

“This will be the first American president in U.S. history that enters the White House with a pro-gay rights stance,” Scaramucci remarked.

Elton was a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign.
