On Saturday night, Elton’s 70th birthday party was held at Hollywood’s Red Studios.

This was also a celebration of the music-maker’s 50-year songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin, and a fundraiser benefiting the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the Hammer Museum at UCLA.

Rob Lowe served as host, and the entertainers included Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder, teaming up for the latter’s 1981 hit Happy Birthday. Ryan Adams also took the stage to perform Rocket Man.

Others in attendance included Taupin; Joni Mitchell; David Foster; Matthew Morrison; Sharon and Kelly Osbourne; Neil Patrick Harris; James Corden; and Katy Perry.

Prince Harry made a memorable cameo at the event, appearing in video-form to wish the singer a happy day. The royal emulated one of Elton’s signature looks, wearing a pair of star-shaped sunglasses.
