Russ Solomon, who grew Tower Records into one of the world’s largest record and video retailing chains, has died. He was 92 and passed away at his home in Sacramento, California, of an apparent heart attack on Sunday.

The store’s patrons included Elton, Prince, Lou Reed, Bette Midler and Michael Jackson.
Mr. Solomon has said that their ”favourite regular” was Elton.
”He probably was the best customer we ever had. He was in one of our stores every week, literally, wherever he was — in L.A., in Atlanta when he lived in Atlanta, and in New York.”
