A music mogul who played a pivotal part in the lives and careers of artists like Elton; Neil Diamond; Barry White; Olivia Newton-John; the Supremes; and Marvin Gaye, passed away on Sunday.

Russ Regan had suffered from a series of health problems and recently was fitted with a pacemaker.

The 89-year-old was President at 20th Century Records, and held executive positions at UNI Records, a division of MCA Inc., and Polygram Records, among others.

Elton posted an older photo of himself with Russ on Instagram and wrote, ”Thank you for believing in me and helping launch my career.”

Bernie Taupin stated: “He was larger than life; a big-hearted maverick, whose belief in us was a key component to our success in America.”

Newton-John also weighed in, saying, “He encouraged me to move to America, which began my career. He was a very good man!”

You can read more about Russ in an older edition of this Web site’s Cheryl’s Specials–published on the 25th of August in 2014.
