The latest Rocket Hour Beats 1 show features an artist known as ”The Abstract.”

Q-Tip can be heard on Elton’s broadcast today at 1 p.m. Eastern time (5 p.m. in the UK).

The host discussed his cameo from the sixth and final A Tribe Called Quest record, 2016’s We Got It From Here . . . Thank You 4 Your Service — a vocal and piano spot on the track Solid Wall of Sound, which also includes the acoustic guitar and vocals of Jack White.

“I was so happy to play that,” Elton commented. “That’s where we first met you came to London, and we did a track in the studio, and it was such a huge honour for me. I was so excited. I just absolutely love this. This is such a takedown of what’s going on … That is such a great track. The album is a fantastic record. If you’re gonna bow out with a record, you better do something like that.”

“Thank you so much for being a part of our last record,” replied the rapper. “It meant so much to me. And just how everything ended.”

Elton said that he wants to play and sing on “more stuff” with his guest.

“I’d love to do something with you,” he said. “I can’t wait to hear some new stuff from you and what you’re producing. You’re brilliant. I love you. You are the best.”

In 2018, Q-Tip and Demi Lovato teamed up for a new version of Don’t Go Breaking My Heart. It appeared on Revamp, a selection of EJ/Bernie Taupin numbers covered by Lady Gaga and a slew of other pop artists.

Speaking of their cover, Lovato said, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart is such a classic, it’s just always been around me. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work on this.

“Elton’s such an icon, a legend, I’m honoured to be a part of Revamp. He’s a trail blazer and he’s authentic and true to himself. This version of the song has a more soulful edge, Q-Tip did a great job.”
