As noted at this Web site yesterday, Elton and Billy Joel were both at Madison Square Garden on December 3.

The latter was there in the late morning, for a press conference to announce he’s now a ”franchise,” meaning he will play a concert a month at the Garden, as long as there’s a demand for it, not to mention also getting his own logo.

Elton was at the venue at night, and got high marks from the New York Post, which called him ”a survivor” who didn’t show any lasting effects from his brush with death after suffering from appendicitis during the summer.

The reviewer wrote that the singer has recorded some of his best music in the latter years of his career, pointing to Hey Ahab from The Union with Leon Russell, and Oceans Away from The Diving Board, both of which he performed last night.
