The Boston Herald carried an interview with Renee Fleming on July 23, 2004.
She said, ”If you told me when I was a Juilliard student that I would be singing at the Met, I would’ve said ‘I hope so.’ But if you’d asked me if I’d be singing Your Song with Elton John, well . . .”
Renee admitted to being nervous about her Radio City Music Hall gig. She felt out of her element with no arrangement or chart. She improvised, although it’s a song ”we all know and love.” She pointed out that many have grown up on Elton’s music, ”the fabric of American culture.”
