At 9 p.m. ET Friday night, Dua Lipa‘s livestream performance will take place. Among the guests are Elton, Kylie Minogue, Miley Cyrus, and J Balvin.
Ahead of this, the singer spoke to USA Today. The reporter asked if was easier to invite Elton to participate, knowing he’s a fan of the young woman’s album, Future Nostalgia.
Lipa replied: ”Well, it’s always nerve-racking when you talk to one of your idols and someone you’ve looked up to your whole life. It’s never not a pinch-me moment or a moment of, ‘Oh, my God, I can’t believe I’m doing this.’ But I’m so, so grateful that he was willing to take part in it and create something with me that’s so unique just for this show.”
Asked if he’ll join her for one of her songs or one of his, Lipa was coy.
”It’s a song that I think everybody will be very familiar with that’s very fitting with the theme of Future Nostalgia, and transporting to the moon. But that’s about all I can tell you.”
When recently revealing that Elton would be one of her guests, the young woman said: ”It’s my absolute pleasure and honour to Elton John will be joining me at Studio 2054 this Friday. A one of a kind global musical icon, singer-songwriter and flawless performer, it’s going to be spectacular! He is truly musical royalty and I am elated that we will be appearing together.”
Elton remarked: ”I loved speaking to Dua when we met up to talk on Instagram Live a few weeks ago. She is incredibly smart and talented. So when she asked me to be part of Studio 2054, I said, ‘yes!’ in a heartbeat. It’s amazing to be part of a live performance when live music just isn’t happening right now and especially in such a colorful and creative way. If you’re going to do virtual live music then this is the way to do it.”
Lipa will also be joined by dancers, skaters, aerialists and acrobats on a series of sets which will include roller discos, surreal TV shows, and diva style dressing rooms. It’s to be broadcast across global territories via LIVENow as part of the American Express UNSTAGED series.
