On Sunday, Elton praised his fans for braving the rain at the first ever Magic Summer Live in Hertfordshire, rewarding them with a hit-laden set.
Although he arrived on stage half an hour later than advertised, the pop icon made up for it by immediately launching into Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting) and vowing to take the concertgoers’ minds off the “miserable weather.”
He said: “Thank you for coming out in this miserable weather and supporting this event. We’re going to try to cheer you up.”
Accompanied by his five-piece band, four backing vocalists and 2 Cellos duo, the singer performed a string of classics which included Madman Across The Water, Sacrifice and Rocket Man.
He also did some numbers from his most recent CD, The Union.
Other acts to perform during the day long event at Hatfield House included Lighthouse Family, Rumer, and the Overtones.
